How to Register to Vote in Ireland
Who is Eligible to Vote?
To vote in an election or referendum in Ireland, you must be:
- An Irish citizen
- Aged 18 or over on the day of the election
- Resident in Ireland or Northern Ireland
How to Register
You can register to vote online using the following link: https://www.checktheregister.ie/ You will need to provide your:
- Personal Public Service Number (PPSN)
- Date of birth
- Eircode
- Contact details
Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email. You must then bring your confirmation email and a form of photo ID to your local Garda station to complete the registration process.
What if I'm Not Already Registered?
If you are not already registered to vote, you can still register on the day of the election. However, you will need to bring your passport or another form of photo ID to the polling station.
What if I've Changed My Address?
If you have changed your address, you must update your registration details on the Register of Electors. You can do this online at https://www.checktheregister.ie/ or by contacting your local County Registrar.
