Voters Abroad: SA Missions Registration and VEC 10 Form Deadline

Registration Process

South African citizens residing abroad are required to register as voters in person at their nearest South African mission. To apply, they will need their valid South African ID (either the green barcoded ID book or smart ID card) or Temporary ID Certificate.

To confirm registration and polling station location, individuals within South Africa can SMS their ID number to 32810. Those abroad can email the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) at voterreg@elections.org.za.

VEC 10 Form

Voting Abroad

South Africans registered to vote in South Africa who intend to vote abroad must submit a VEC 10 form by the deadline of 23:59 SAST on April 22, 2023. The form is available for completion online.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to register as a voter abroad, individuals must:

Be at least 16 years old

Have a valid South African ID (as specified above)
