Windows Devices Now Identified with MSFT 50.0 Vendor Class Identifier
DHCP Identifies Windows and Android Devices
Vendor Class Identifiers in DHCP Requests
Microsoft has announced that Windows devices will now be identified with a new vendor class identifier (VCI) in DHCP requests. The VCI, "MSFT 50.0," will distinguish Windows devices from other devices on a network.
Previously, Windows devices used the VCI "MSFT 50." However, this VCI was also used by some Android devices, which caused confusion in some cases.
The new VCI, "MSFT 50.0," is unique to Windows devices and will help to ensure that they are properly identified on networks.
