Carini's decision comes amid an ongoing row over Khelif's eligibility for the Games

Italian boxer Angela Carini has quit her Olympic match against Algerian opponent Imane Khelif just 46 seconds into the fight, amid an ongoing row over Khelif's eligibility for the Games.

Carini, who was representing Italy in the women's 66kg category, walked out of the ring after Khelif landed a punch on her in the first round.

Carini's decision comes after the International Boxing Association (AIBA) ruled that Khelif was eligible to compete in the Olympics, despite the fact that she had previously been banned from women's boxing for doping.

The AIBA's decision has been widely criticized by many in the boxing community, who believe that it sets a dangerous precedent and undermines the integrity of the sport.

Carini's withdrawal from the fight is a major blow to Italy's hopes of winning a medal in the women's 66kg category.

It is also a significant moment in the ongoing debate over the eligibility of transgender athletes in sport.
